On 15-May-2019, SAR Chautauqua President Stephen Boothe, presented to Cadet Owen-Jahn Smith, the Chautauqua SAR Award at Dunkirk, New York. The award honors JROTC cadets who have a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing and general excellance. The recipient of this award is selected by the Commanding Officer of the JROTC unit Lt.-Col. Russel Clark. The award consists of a certificate along with a bronze medallion. On the face of the medallion is the minuteman of Revolutionary War days exemplifying the citizen soldier, the ideals of whom the SAR membership holds in highest esteem.
